OHA Meeting Shares Mokulele, Surf Air Collaboration Update

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) Board of Trustees will hold

its annual community meeting at Lānikeha Community Center in Hoʻolehua on July 27 and July 28. 

As part of the Monday evening agenda, a representative from Mokulele Airlines will

share about the airline’s collaboration with Surf Air Mobility. Additional presentations will

be delivered by community leaders who will share their experiences and ongoing efforts

to support Molokai’s recovery from the Kona Low storms. Attendees will also receive

updates from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs on current initiatives and programs.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) is a semi-autonomous state agency established in 1978. It is responsible for improving the wellbeing of Native Hawaiians (regardless of blood quantum). OHA works to uplift Native Hawaiians by providing funding to Native Hawaiian-serving nonprofits in the areas of education, housing, health, economic stability and mālama ʻāina. OHA also advocates at the city, state and federal levels for laws and policies that benefit Native Hawaiians; conducts research to support its advocacy and strategic planning; engages and informs the community through a monthly newspaper, social media and action alerts; and stewards almost 30,000 acres of legacy lands to protect and preserve them for future generations. Headquartered in Honolulu, OHA also has offices on Kauaʻi, Molokai, Maui and Hawaiʻi Islands.

The OHA Board of Trustees meeting on July 27 will begin with a light dinner served at 5 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:30 p.m. On July 28, the meeting begins with a light breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by the meeting at 9:30 a.m.
