Volleyball Gets Weekend Sweep

Traveling to Lanai last weekend, the Molokai High Boys Volleyball team took two home wins. Friday’s three-set game was 25-16, 25-12 and 25-18, with Saturday’s win in five sets, 25-20, 25-12, 23-25, 19-25 and 15-13. 

“To travel to Lanai is always fun, the laid-back lifestyle, the beautiful greenery and the gym packed with fans like the old days,” said Head Coach Hale Domingo. “Friday night was crazy, fun and exciting. It was back and forth for three sets, and we pulled it off. We captured the momentum late in all three sets and rode it out the doors with the win.”

Saturday’s game was a battle.

“After the game was done Friday night, I knew Lanai was going to adjust for Saturday and they did,” Domingo continued. “Saturday’s game was a who wants it more kind of game. We had to grind it out for five sets.  Lanai has a ‘never say die’ type of defense and they played well. In less than two weeks, we will be playing against Lanai at The Barn to finish the regular season.”

Molokai is 4-2 for the season so far and Lanai is 0-4. The MIL DII Boys Volleyball Tournament is April 28-30 here on Molokai at The Barn.
