Victories on the Diamond

Molokai High School Baseball and Softball teams took on the Hana Dragons at home this past weekend. Both teams emerged victorious in all games.
For the Lady Farmers, the weekend started off well with a 18-3 win on Friday. Tania Yamamoto threw three innings, earning three strikeouts and the win. Pi’imoku Victorino smashed a homerun and brought in three RBIs. Kailana McGuire-Guerrero likewise contributed to the offensive deluge with a triple and RBI of her own. The game ended after three innings due to Maui Interscholastic League’s 10-run rule.
The boy’s Baseball Team put out an impressive performance on Friday, defeating Hana 12-2 in only four innings. Ho’olei Arce threw the complete game, slinging eight strikeouts in the process. Kilinahe Puhi put up impressive numbers on offense going a perfect three-for-three at the plate and driving in three runs as well. Hokuao Arce contributed a double, triple and two RBIs of his own.
Saturday’s games also featured wins by both Molokai teams.
The Lady Farmers took a 16-3 win in five innings. This time, Victorino led the way with five innings pitched and five strike-outs. She put up numbers on offensive as well, hitting three doubles and one RBI. Natalia Pastrana added a single, triple and two RBIs of her own in the victory. With the win, the Lady Farmers improve to 5-1 on the season.
For the baseball team, game two of the weekend was similarly dominant, securing a 11-1 win in the fourth inning. Solomon Kikukawa-Teriong tossed six strikeouts in the win. Miken Loo, Hokuao Arce and Kynan Cariaga-Abafo all contributed to the strong offensive performance. With victories this weekend, the Farmers extended their undefeated season to a perfect 8-0 and will look to continue the streak on Lanai next weekend.
