Veterans Elect Officers

MVCV News Release

The annual membership meeting of the Molokai Veterans Caring for Veterans (MVCV) organization was held on Friday, Nov. 6. The meeting was called to order by Commander Sam Makaiwi at 10 a.m., and there were 32 members in attendance.

John Condello, veterans counselor will be at the Vets Center with attorneys on Friday, Nov. 20 from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and that afternoon they will be at the OHA office from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Watch commanders are still needed for Tuesday and Wednesday, secretary Allen Diorec informed everyone that we now have 98 lifetime and four annual paid members, total 102.

An election was held for officers and board of directors. For commander, Sam Makaiwi ran unopposed and was reelected with 23 votes, Vice-commander John “Longie” Dudoit ran unopposed and was re-elected with 25 votes, Secretary Allen Diorec ran unopposed and was re-elected with 24 votes, and Treasurer John Kaalekahi ran unopposed and was re-elected with 26 votes. For Board of Directors, Dan Iaea did not run for re-election. Ted Johns ran and was re-elected. Tiana Merino and Clarence “Dobie” Enoka were elected with 20 and 24 voters respectively, and Lou McKee was elected as a write-in with three votes.

Dan Iaea has done a wonderful job with building and grounds, and should be commended for the many hours of hard work he has put in.
