Statewide Craftsmen Exhibition

Hawaii Craftsmen News Release

Hawaii Craftsmen is excited to announce that the 2022 exhibition will travel from Oahu to Maui.  The exhibition will begin on Oahu at the Downtown Art Center in mid-October, and then travel to the Maui Arts and Cultural Center Schafer Gallery through December. Molokai artists are invited to submit their work, and jurying will be held in person on Molokai in August.

The 2022 juror will be Neida Bangerter, who is the director of the world-class Schaefer International Gallery at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC). As an artist, educator, curator and gallery director, Ms. Bangerter is uniquely qualified to bring her range of expertise, as well as her sensitivity to the tradition of contemporary Hawaii craft to the jurying process.

Held annually since 1967, the Hawaii Craftsmen Annual Statewide Exhibition features the finest traditional and contemporary craft from across the state of Hawaii. The juror visits each island to make public presentations and select the very best work to be included in the exhibition.

The Hawaii Craftsmen Annual Statewide Exhibition 2022 jurying will be held one month earlier than usual to allow enough time for selected work to be exhibited on both Oahu and Maui. Jurying will be held in person on Hawaii Island, Maui, Molokai, Kauai and Oahu during the last week in August. Lanai will be juried online. Exact times and details will be announced soon.

The Oahu Exhibition will be held Sept. 17 to Oct. 16 (tentative) at the Downtown Art Center in Honolulu. The Maui Exhibition will be held from Nov. 5 to Dec. 30 (tentative) at the Schaefer International Gallery at the MACC in Kahului.
