Sports Weekend Recap
Winter sports continued into the last few weeks of their regular seasons. Girls basketball took on Seabury Hall in two games at home. In Friday’s game, where the basketball team celebrated senior night, the Lady Farmers took an emphatic 50-4 victory over Seabury Hall. Leila Hooper-Phifer dropped 19 points and Kaia Yamashita put up 12 points in the win.
Saturday was more of the same for the Lady Farmers, taking a 38-17 win. This time Khloe Bicoy led the scoring with 12 points. The Lady Farmers ended their regular season with a 9-1 record and will host the MIL tournament in two weeks.
Boys basketball also played Seabury Hall, this time on Maui. The Farmers dropped both games, losing Friday 69-27 and Saturday 69-23. The 6-4 Farmers will travel to Hana next week for the last games of their regular season.
Over the weekend, Molokai High School (MHS) wrestling competed at King Kekaulike High School. Many Molokai wrestlers placed in their divisions. For the girls, Anjolie Manaba, Hila’i Kapuni, Stephanie Gandeza and Masina Borden-Phillips all placed second in their respective divisions. Waile’a Ward and Kiara Hanaoka came away with third.
For the boys, Jona Dudoit, Reyn Raguindin and Aiden Augustiro took third, Kolby Dudoit took second, and Elisha Horner took first in their divisions.
On Saturday, MHS paddling took part in a regatta at Kahului Harbor, with the girls taking fourth place, the boys taking third, and a mixed boat placing sixth.
The Lady Farmers soccer team was supposed to play at home against Kulanihakoi, but Kulanihakoi wasn’t able to make the game. Instead, the girls played a Green and White scrimmage and celebrated the senior members of the team. The matches against Kulanihakoi were re-scheduled for the following Tuesday and Wednesday.
Finally, the boys soccer team played Seabury Hall on Maui. The Farmers lost on Friday by a score of 9-0, and lost again on Saturday, 13-0.
