Split Victory for Volleyball

The Molokai HS Boys Volleyball team earned a split in their first games of the season at Seabury Hall last weekend. On Friday night the Farmers (1-1) won in four sets (25-21, 17-25, 25-22, and 25-21) and lost the rematch on Saturday in a hard fought five set match (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-25, 16-14). The Spartans are 1-1 also early in the DII Boys VB season.

Head Coach Hale Domingo said his team played well.

“Friday night’s win was great and gave the boys the confidence to know that they can compete in the MIL again this year,” he said.

Saturday’s match was decided in a close fifth set and Domingo said he was proud of his team’s play.

“Saturday the boys showed a lot of heart when we were down 14-8 in the 5th set and we tied it up at 14 and then lost 14-16,” he said.

Domingo knows it’s early in the season but said they know that they “need to work a lot harder to get where we want to go this season.”

Next up for Molokai are home games at The Barn against Hana on March 24-25.
