Soil Health Workshops

UH CTAHR News Release

Our UH CTAHR Molokai Cooperative Extension Service staff will teach about the importance of soil health and innovative ways to increase the health of soil in a Soil Health Workshop series starting this week. UH CTAHR Molokai Cooperative Extension Service is offering the workshops in partnership with Sustainable Molokai.

The workshop dates are Thursdays Feb. 9, Feb. 23 and March 9.  Each will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lanikeha Community Center.  This series will include presentations, demonstrations and will have an interactive component.  Participants are encouraged to attend all three workshops as this is a progressive series, meaning each one will build upon the lessons learned the week before.  The more workshops you attend, the better your chance of going home with one of these tools in the end.

Registration is now open.  You can contact Kyle Franks, DHHL Extension Agent, at kefranks@hawaii.edu for more information or to register.

This series is open to all without regard to race, sex, gender identity and expression, age, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, arrest and court record, sexual orientation, or status as a covered veteran.  If you require information in an alternative format (such as large print), please contact us at ada-contact@ctahr.hawaii.edu.

A special thanks to the County of Maui Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and the Kuhao Business Center for funding this project through their county grants process.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for this three-part series and join our CTAHR team of presenters: Kyle Franks — DHHL Agent, Kristina “Tina” Cacpal — Farm to School Agent, Jennifer Hawkins — Edible Crops Agent, and Glenn Teves-Gardening — Beginning Farmer and Seed Saving Agent.
