Softball Improves to 6-0
The Lady Farmers Softball team picked up two wins at home last weekend over the Hana Lady Dragons to continue their unbeaten season. Molokai won on Friday 13-3 in six innings. Molokai had eight hits and four were triples. Cami and Cahl Horner pitched in the win. On Saturday, the Lady Farmers got the win 15-0 in five innings behind 15 hits and a home run by Wehi Pastrana. Tehani Yamamoto and Tallan Garces pitched for Molokai. Alayah Pastrana, Sydney Rawlins and Camille Ledesma all had three hits in the win.
“I really love the diversity we have within our team, the hunger and willingness from all the girls to play wherever and whenever the team needs them, the fire within them that allows them to continuously be ready and all out for action,” said Head Coach Kawehi Horner. “I guess you can say, they play from the heart and I love it.”
Molokai honored their six seniors in Saturday’s last home game. Yamamoto, Ledesma, Rawlins, Garces, Kaydence Oswald and Starr Kaahanui are leading the team and Horner likes that.
“Our seniors have brought so much leadership and care, support and love to the team that made them closer,” he said. “I’m going to miss this bunch a lot!!”
Molokai will travel to Lanai for their last regular season games before having a week off and then heading to Maui for the MIL DII Softball Tournament on April 19-21.
“Please allow me to express my deepest gratitude to all of my assistant coaches who make my job so much lighter and easier as well as the parents and supporters who give and do unselfishly. We have been blessed a lot this year and I am humbled,” said Horner.
