Softball Continues Undefeated

The Lady Farmers Softball team got the sweep over Lanai (0-2) last weekend at the Molokai High School field. The Lady Farmers (4-0) won on Friday 15-5 in five innings. Molokai had 15 runs on eight hits.

On Saturday, the Lady Farmers got another win 17-8, and Head Coach Kawehi Horner was pleased with his team’s play.

“Our pitchers threw their best while on the mound this weekend and our catcher did an outstanding job holding it down behind the plate,” he said.

Molokai had 17 runs on 16 hits on Saturday and showed that they are a strong contender this year.

“It was another good weekend of softball but it is clear that Division II could use some more game time to better the athletes and prepare them for states and beyond if players choose to pursue this game in college,” said Horner.

Molokai has a limited schedule with only Hana and Lanai participating this year. Molokai will travel to Maui this weekend for two non-league games against Lahainaluna on Friday and Maui High on Saturday. The Lady Farmers will then be home on March 30-31 against the Hana Lady Dragons.

“All in all, we teach the girls to not give up and it’s all about that strong finish!” said Horner. “That I felt they all did for sure this weekend and I am proud of them for that.”
