Singing Praises
Daniel and Esther Lehmann led worship in song during this year’s Praise Concert, held at Kaunakakai ball field on Saturday, July 19.
In its fifth year on Molokai, the event brought about 800 attendees for a line-up of award-winning musicians and worship leaders. The free concert also offered complimentary food, games and giveaways. Organized by local churches, the event was followed on Sunday by the Celebration of Hope service.
According to Cameron Hiro, the event’s success is due to keeping in alignment with the Molokai Summer Praise Concert Vision and Mission to glorify God through the ministry of music and testimony by working together to build intimate relationships with the local community. Musicians such as Na Hoku Hanohano, award-winner Maila Gibson, Ben Vegas and Kapena, shared their love of Jesus Christ with attendees through their music and testimony. In addition, Eddie Onofrio served as the Coordinator andPastor Randy Manley and Hiro were assistant coordinators for the event.
Another key to the event’s success is the partnership with about a half dozen churches on the Island as well as Maui County, various companies and organizations to provide a safe environment that offers food, fellowship, games for the kids and simply a fun evening out for the whole family all for free. This year, a free Spaghetti Dinner Plate for all was offered.
“We are hopeful more churches, companies and organization will partner with us in the future for we believe this event helps to spiritually nurture, encourage and better our families who make up this beautiful community we live in,” Hiro said.
