This program is funded by the County of Maui Department of Agriculture and is a partnership between UH CTAHR, Molokai Cooperative Extension Service and the County of Maui Department of Agriculture. The program focuses on skill building and hands-on learning! Skills will include propagation from seed, transplanting, irrigation, weeding and maintenance, proper garden tool use, and post-harvest handling while learning gardening styles which include in-ground, raised beds or wicking beds.

To participate you must be a Molokai resident, have access to land and water for growing, have participated in one garden class or have basic garden experience, have your own transportation to and from class, provide your own closed-toe shoes and garden gloves, and most importantly, have the goal of growing for subsistence or a small market including trading or barter. Class attendance will be mandatory with classes being held on Tuesdays from 8:30-10:30 a.m. starting in mid-February. Participants will be required to work weekly in their garden plots in addition to attending classes.
