Santa Visits Kaunakakai Elementary

Kaunakakai Elementary got an early visit from Santa Claus this year. Happy to be in a warmer climate and see all the happy children of Molokai, Santa dropped by Kaunakakai a few weeks ago to check his lists and hear the students’ wishes. As his reindeer are resting up for Christmas Day, Santa caught a flight from the North Pole.

The teachers and volunteers gave some help to Santa, setting up games and activities for about 100 students. Principal Janice Espiritu said they throw this Christmas party to give parents some much needed shopping or quiet time this holiday season.

“We really would like families and their children to enjoy themselves, so we are happy to help them out,” she said.

The keiki played games – such as seeing who could glue a red paper Rudolph to their nose the fastest – decorated lollipops and were given dinner.

To close the evening, they enjoyed movies –  “The Last Airbender” for the older students, and “Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore” for the young ones.
