Molokai Public Library News Release

Please join us in celebrating the 80th Anniversary of our Molokai Public Library. The festivities will be held on the lawn fronting the library on Saturday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The variety of programs will include live music, hula, brief presentations by local and state dignitaries, along with light refreshments.

Established on May 21, 1937, the Molokai Public Library is one of eight public libraries in the Maui County district, and one of more than 50 libraries in the Hawaii State Public Library system. Placed on the Hawaii Register of Historic Places in 1993, the building will undergo an expansion in the near future. The library was visited by 48,204 people in 2016. Some of our offerings include: Book Mobile visits to schools, Read to Me Family Night, Summer reading programs, computer instruction classes, book talks by authors, and special programs and performances.
The Friends of the Molokai Public Library is a nonprofit group dedicated to supporting and promoting the library. We look forward to celebrating this anniversary with or community. For more information, please call the library at 553-1765.
