Poetry Protégés

Keiki took to the mic during this month’s Read to Me program at the Molokai Public Library. It was an evening of poetry, as verses were read aloud to a young and enthusiastic audience. Kumu Alestra Menendez of Kilohana Elementary led keiki in writing their own poetry in a form called a cinquain poem, consisting of five lines revolving around one subject. The students then sat in the author’s chair and read their poems aloud.
