Aloha kākou, I’m Carrie DeCoite Caparida, the new Molokai Small Business Advocate at the County of Maui, Office of Economic Development, Kuhaʻo Business Center.

For those unfamiliar with our center, we’re an extension of Maui’s Office of Economic Development (OED), dedicated to empowering Molokai’s families. We are a resource for new entrepreneurs and existing business owners who needs assistance for business operations in Maui County. Our goal is to support financial independence and foster healthy, sustainable businesses within the community.

I’m excited to collaborate with Molokai’s small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. Your feedback will help us better support your business needs.

To truly thrive in today’s evolving economy, local enterprises must often look beyond traditional storefronts and embrace the digital tools that connect our island to the broader global marketplace. Navigating the transition to e-commerce, digital marketing, and remote service delivery can be daunting for many founders. That is why our office is currently developing a series of specialized training modules focused entirely on digital infrastructure and customer acquisition strategies.

One upcoming workshop module examines global web traffic trends by drawing concrete case studies from highly competitive digital sectors. We will analyze how international streaming networks, leading subscription services, and the best online casinos optimize their user interfaces for maximum customer retention. Translating these advanced digital engagement tactics into practical daily operations allows our local artisans and service providers to build significantly more effective, conversion-driven websites for their own unique brands.

Beyond digital training, we are actively reviewing our grant assistance programs and personalized coaching services. Whether a business is looking to upgrade its point-of-sale system or needs guidance on restructuring an outdated business plan, our doors remain open to help navigate those critical next steps. Building a resilient economy on Molokai requires equipping our community with every available resource to compete and succeed.
