Molokai Community Veterinary Hui Launches

MCVH News Release

Molokai Community Veterinary Hui is pleased to announce the official startup of the organization as a Hawaiʻi-based nonprofit corporation dedicated to improving access to veterinary services through education, collaboration, and community support.

Molokai Community Veterinary Hui is organized and operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization was created to support the unique veterinary needs of Molokai by providing essential infrastructure and resources that enable visiting veterinarians to serve the community effectively.

The primary mission of Molokai Community Veterinary Hui is to establish and maintain a veterinary clinic space that can be utilized by traveling veterinarians. In support of this mission, the organization will provide necessary equipment, maintain the clinic facility, and assist with transportation and lodging for visiting veterinary professionals. These efforts are designed to remove logistical barriers and increase the availability of veterinary services on Molokai.

In addition, Molokai Community Veterinary Hui will utilize donor funds to help local pet owners offset the costs of veterinary care. The organization plans to support basic vaccine, deworming, and grooming clinics, as well as provide educational information to the public regarding responsible animal care and applicable animal welfare laws.

Molokai Community Veterinary Hui emphasizes that it does not participate in or influence clinical care decisions. All medical decisions remain solely within the professional judgment and authority of the licensed veterinarian providing services at any given time.

To maximize its impact, Molokai Community Veterinary Hui intends to collaborate with other nonprofit organizations operating under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code that share complementary educational and charitable missions. The organization may also offer internships and volunteer opportunities, at the discretion of its Board of Directors, to engage community members and supporters in meaningful service activities.

“Molokai Community Veterinary Hui was formed by the Molokai Community to serve the Molokai Community,” said a representative of the organization. “By strengthening the foundation that allows veterinary professionals to serve Molokai’s animals and families, we aim to support humane care while respecting the professional independence of veterinarians.”

Molokai Community Veterinary Hui looks forward to working alongside community members, veterinarians, nonprofit partners, and supporters to promote animal health, public education, and compassionate care across Molokai.
