The Molokai Bowhunters Club first started back in 1988 and was founded by our late friend Joe Kailiponi, a seven-time state champion and well known member of the archery/bowhunting community. To honor his knowledge and passion for the sport, the MBC is starting an annual award for Bowhunter of the Year. To qualify for this award or Shooter of the Month, club members need to attend monthly club shootouts.
These shootouts are held every second Saturday of the month at the Kalae range from 9 am to 4 pm. Club members who couldn’t make January’s shootout will be able to have a makeup shoot to qualify for the awards. We encourage any archery/bowhunter enthusiasts, beginner to advance, young & old, to come out and join us in participating & competing in our monthly club events and have fun shooting and talking story. Every month we will inform the community of our club shootouts and leaderboards.

Finally, our upcoming State Annual Shootouts Tournament will be held at the Kalae range on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 7 am to 3 pm. The tournament will host more than 150 archers from around the state competing in various bowhunting challenges for trophies & prizes.

The Molokai Bowhunting Club is dedicated to seeking new opportunities in hunting access for our club members. We also carry an insurance that covers liability for all MBC members during any given club hunt. One of our main goals is to help control and monitor, not eradicate the deer population. We intend to keep a natural balance to ensure this resource is around for our future generations. If anyone has a deer problem or is interested in providing us hunting access, please feel free to contact us through our website. We also provide free consultation regarding bowhunting or deer management.

As a final note, the Molokai Bowhunters Club would like to send a special warm aloha to the ohana of the late Herman Puaoi. He will truly be missed by his many friends here at MBC. You have our deepest sympathies and our prayers go out to everyone. A hui hou Braddah Herman Puaoi.
