MAC Talk at Molokai Public Library
Join the Molokai Arts Center (MAC) at the Molokai Public Library on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. as MAC’s Artist in Residence Connie Lee Lynch shares her Molokai journey in art. Connie is a mixed media and fiber artist currently living in Pearl City. She is a certified crochet instructor and has had crochet designs and articles featured in both crochet and spinning magazine publications. Most recently, her work was included in the Fiber Hawaii 2024 Exhibit at the Downtown Art Center in Honolulu. Her website is crochetcetera.com.
While on Molokai, Connie’s mixed media paintings and fiber arts work has been focused on the theme, “Island Expressions: Exploring the Natural Beauty of Molokai through Texture and Color.” She hopes to “express my experience of interacting with and observing the lines, hues, and depths of my surroundings, potentially including handspun yarn, tapestries, crochet patterns, watercolor or acrylic and mixed-media paintings, sketches, and poetry or prose in an attempt to express the essence of existing in the generous space of Molokai.”
Through her art, Connie invites both makers and viewers alike to become seekers of beauty and joy, exploring texture and line and color, taking pause to notice the simple pleasures of life in the everyday world all around us. Come see what Molokai has inspired her to create. If you crochet, bring your needle and yarn. If you don’t, come experience Connie’s art process. Connie is also doing an Art Bar at Hiro’s ‘Ohana Grill on Thursday, Jan. 23. Sign up at bit.ly/4hj6g0L (zero not O).
Molokai Arts Center received a grant from the Laila Twigg-Smith Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF) for the Artist in Residence Program 24-25. Mahalo HCF for helping to “bring the arts to Molokai.” Thank you also to Mia Ritte and the Molokai Public Library for co-hosting MAC Talk.
