The American Red Cross is recruiting disaster services volunteers on Molokai. The first step for all new disaster volunteers is to take a series of basic disaster classes, which will be offered on Molokai. All Disaster Services training is provided free of charge.
New volunteer candidates must register for, and attend, the entire series. We are
offering the new volunteer training series of four courses in your community on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Oct. 11-13. All courses will be held at the Home Pumehana Senior Center meeting room.
“Disaster Services: An Overview” will be held on Friday, Oct. 11 at Home Pumehana Senior Center meeting room from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. “Shelter Fundamentals” will be held the following day, Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 to noon. “Disaster Assessment Basics” will be held that afternoon from 1 to 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 13, “Disaster Action Team: An Orientation” will be offered from 12 noon to 3:30 p.m.
To become a volunteer the first step is to register online at redcross.org/Hawaii. Click “Volunteer” on the left side, click “Becoming a Volunteer” (it’s right underneath), click the “Apply now” button in the center, and fill out all of the information needed and we will call you to register you for the training.
