Local Grindz Cookbook Released
Submitted by James Temple
“The Beauty of Cooking on Molokai” was just released on Oahu. This beautifully photographed, 170-page cookbook has 122 recipes that reflect a complex range of island flavors from savory to sweet, and from fiery to cool. What could be more inviting than fried honey sesame shrimp, chicken adobo in coconut milk, spicy Thai beef salad, or Tahitian lime pie? These recipes are some of the best grindz you’ll find in the Hawaiian Islands.
The author, James Temple, and his wife Kimberly have lived on Molokai for over eight years. James has worked in the Hotel Molokai kitchen, opened Mango Mart Deli and was manager of the Lanikeha commercial kitchen in Ho`olehua. James and Kimberly were also owners of Bamboo Pantry for the past four years.
James has been the family cook for many years. His passion for cooking led him to a degree in the culinary arts from the San Francisco Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu program. He has recently self-published the first edition cookbook, “The Beauty of Cooking on Molokai.” You can pick up your copy from Kimberly’s Saturday morning farmer’s market booth right here on Molokai for only $20, or at select local retailers. This is a limited printing of only 200 copies, so get your copy while they last – it will make a great local holiday gift.
