On Oct. 19, the Kualapu’u School ‘Ohana Fun Fair brought the Molokai community together for a day filled with laughter, fun, and family-friendly activities. The annual event, which serves as a major fundraiser for the school, attracted hundreds of families eager to enjoy the festivities and support local businesses and organizations.

One of the most anticipated attractions of the day was the pumpkin patch, a delightful seasonal highlight sponsored by Senator Lynn DeCoite and her partnership sponsors. Families were able to choose their perfect pumpkins, free of charge, as part of the fun! The pumpkin patch was a hit among children and parents alike, offering a perfect backdrop for fall photos and adding a festive touch to the fair.

The school was buzzing with excitement as kids enjoyed the many free activities, including horseback rides, jumping castles, water slides and a photobooth at the pumpkin patch. The food booths served up delicious local favorites, while the other local vendors featured handcrafted goods, baked treats, and Molokai-made products. The Molokai community showed up in full force to support these small businesses, and the turnout was a great boost for the local economy.

In addition to fun and food, the fair also hosted resource organizations, providing families with important information about community services, health resources, and educational opportunities. Kualapu’u School’s own Hawaiian Immersion Program showcased cultural displays, inviting attendees to learn more about the school’s dedication to preserving and promoting Hawaiian language and culture.

The success of the Kualapu’u School ‘Ohana Fun Fair would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Special thanks to our Gold Tier Sponsors: American Savings Bank and Kokua Logistics.

Thanks to our other sponsors as well: Mokulele Airlines, Ho‘ohana Molokai, Molokai Drugs, Inc., Dave’s Ice Cream, Hotel Molokai, Friendly Market Center, Ho‘okako‘o, Rev. Their contributions helped to ensure that this year’s event was a memorable and fun-filled experience for all.

Kualapu’u School’s governing board, Ho’okako’o, extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and families who came out to make this day a success. The funds raised will go directly to supporting the school’s annual programs, ensuring that Kualapu’u School continues to offer enriching educational opportunities for all its students.
