Nine Molokai judokas competed at states last Saturday, with a handful of first round wins on the mat. Maria Angst, Hiwa Duvauchelle, Reese Raguindin, Makani Davis, Kawohi Duvauchelle, Payton Kaalekahi, Cameryn Kahalewai, Kawena Davis, Rosie English and Christian Hubbard all represented the Farmers. All Farmer judoka eventually were eliminated from placing at states but Duvauchelle came close, falling one match short of medaling.

“We are overwhelmed with all of the support and love that the Molokai judo team has received this season,” said Head Coach Kalei Davis. “We are grateful to all of the parents who have helped out this season! We’d also like to thank Ikua DePonte, Lihau Maioho and Imada Sensei for being in our corners…. The Molokai judoka were fortunate to be a part of this experience and truly enjoyed taking in the caliber and dedication of the HHSAA judoka talent at states.”
