In-Vehicle Road Testing Returning
Maui County News Release
Maui County’s Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing will return to offering in-vehicle road testing, beginning Monday, March 28, for learner’s permit holders seeking driver’s licenses for passenger vehicles.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, DMVL began providing modified driver’s license basic skills tests since Feb. 23. The division will end modified testing on Thursday, March 24.
All Maui County DMVL road testing stations will resume in-person road testing on March 28. Road testing stations are located in Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Hana, Lanai and Molokai.
Road testing at all DMVL offices is administered only by appointment.
For road testing appointments on Molokai, call (808) 553-3430.
Road tests are for learner’s permit holders seeking driver’s licenses for Class 3 vehicles, which are passenger vehicles less than 18,000 pounds.
For commercial driver’s license skills testing appointments, call (808) 270-7363.
Beginning April 1, DMVL will begin issuing electric foot scooter registrations. A permanent registration fee of $30 is now required by Hawaii state law and passage of a Maui County ordinance earlier this month. All electric foot scooter fees are deposited into the Bikeway Fund.
