Girls Basketball on to States

After defeating Haleakala Waldorf in a close 24-20 win, Molokai High School (MHS) girls basketball took on the number one ranked Lanai Pine Lasses in the Maui Interscholastic League DII finals. Ultimately, the Lady Farmers fell in an extremely tight game, with a final score of 26-23 in the favor of the Pine Lasses. Molokai’s Leila Hooper-Phifer led the Lady Farmers’ offense with 14 points. With the finals appearance, the Lady Farmers clinched a spot in the state tournament, which will take place from Feb. 5 to Feb. 8 in Honolulu.

Molokai girls soccer played in a historic match on Saturday, Jan. 25 when they competed against Aiea High School for a spot in the state tournament. The Molokai girls fought hard, but were unsuccessful in their tournament bid, losing to Aiea by a score of 6-0. MHS swimming also competed at MILs this past weekend, with Kona Habon and Logan Oshiro contesting the finals in the 50 and 200 meter freestyle respectively.

Over the weekend, MHS wrestling participated in a tournament held at Maui High School, where multiple athletes earned top places. Several Molokai wrestlers came away with first place in their divisions: Hila’i Kapuni, Masina Borden-Phillips, Jona Dudoit and Makana Angelsea.
