Girls Basketball Closes Season

The Lady Farmers fell short in the semi-finals of the Maui Interscholastic League Division II Girls Basketball tournament two weeks ago on Maui. They lost to the Lanai Pine Lasses (4-6) 49-36 and finished the season at 2-7. It was the fifth meeting of the season between the two teams. Junior Kaitlin DeRouin led Molokai with 20 points. Lanai ultimately fell to champion Seabury (8-1) Friday night 49-41. The Trojans are the lone representative to this year state tournament from the MIL DII league.

Head Coach Shane Mokiao said his girls gave it their all in the semifinal game.

“It was a great game but unfortunately we came out short,” he said. “The girls played hard and it was battle till the end.”

Mokiao wanted to thank his team and coaches and supporters. “As a first year head coach, it’s been a pleasure coaching these girls and I would like to thank my coaching staff and our wives for their support.
