Getting Ready for MILs

Several Molokai High School (MHS) sports teams wrapped up their regular seasons this past weekend and are now preparing to take on the Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) tournaments.
In their first season, MHS girls flag football put together a successful regular season campaign, finishing with a 3-4 record – earning them the five seed and a berth to the MIL tournament.
“We made it,” said coach Kimo Orlando in a social media posting.
The girls played King Kekaulike in a tight match last Saturday, but Kekaulike came away with the 29-28 win. The MHS girls were back for more later in the day, taking on Lanai. This time, it was the Lady Farmers coming out on top, with a resounding 43-6 victory. Kaia Yamashita and Courtney Escobar led the offense with two and three touchdowns respectively, and Hualani Kauka added a pick-six.
MHS baseball likewise finished up their regular season last weekend with two games at home against Seabury Hall. With the number one seed in the MIL tournament on the line, the Farmers delivered. Down 6-5 going into the final inning in Friday’s game, the Farmers rallied late to take the 7-6 victory, with Madden Loo earning the win and scoring three runs.
Seabury came back on Saturday to take a 14-3 win, forcing a tie breaker game. The Farmers played well in the tie breaker, winning 9-2 and taking the top seed heading into MILs.
Boys volleyball also played two games against Seabury Hall to end their regular season, dropping both 3-0. The Farmers will look to regroup as they will host the MIL tournament from April 24 to 26.
Girls softball continued their season with two games over the weekend, both against Lanai. The Lady Farmers lost on Friday 19-3, and likewise on Saturday 22-18. They will continue their regular season with home games against Hana this coming weekend.
