Garnin Wins Ace of Aces

By Rick Schonely, Sports Reporter

The Hui O Kukui Golf Club held their annual Ace of Aces tournament on Saturday, Dec. 4 at iconic Ironwood Hills golf course. All the monthly winners took to the course to try to win the tournament and be President of the club for 2022.

When all the scores were tallied, the winner and new President is Steve Garnin. Garnin shot 43-49 for a gross total of 92 and with his 24 handicap his net score of 68 secured the win. Garnin will now get his name on the “Carl Puhi” Perpetual Award plaque, and he will be club president for the next year replacing 2020 President Rick Schonely.

Long time Molokai golfer and supporter of Molokai golf Kaleo Len Wai and his ohana donated two new trophies this year and Garnin also won the Andy “Da General” Toth Challenge as low net for the club championship. Len Wai and Jeff Egusa are the 2020 and 2021 champions for the match play trophy dedicated to George Stillwagon. Mahalo to the staff of Ironwood Hills for keeping the sport of golf alive on Molokai!
