Filomena “Lumeng” Duarosan Sayaboc

Filomena “Lumeng” Duarosan Sayaboc departed this life peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on June 4, 2026, in Kualapuu, Molokai.

Filomena was born in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines, on May 18, 1948, to Cristobal and Feliza Duarosan. She is predeceased by her husband Bonifacio “Pacio” Sayaboc.

She moved to Molokai in 1977.  She commuted on the ferry and worked at The Westin Maui Kaanapali Beach Hotel as a housekeeper for 28 years before retiring and continuing to work at the Molokai Shores.

She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, grandmother, loving sister, cherished aunt and steadfast friend to those fortunate enough to know her. Filomena loved to tend to her garden, cook Filipino food, play Bingo and spend time with her family and friends. She showed her love through cooking and was always there to lend a hand whenever the need arose. Her smile and quick sense of humor will sorely be missed.

She is survived by her children Felicidad “Fely” (Benito) Piros, Bonifacio “Donny” (Irene) Sayaboc, Froilan “George”(Enoka) Sayaboc, brothers Cristobal “Boy” (Violy) Duarosan, Neri (Brenda) Duarosan, sisters Cristina Patague, and Leticia (William) Drapete, grandchildren Benel and Jason Piros and Draedon and Donovan Sayaboc.

The family would like to thank The Hospice of Maui team for their compassion and care.  Services will be held at St. Damien Church of Molokai on Saturday, June 27. Public viewing will be from 8:45-9:45 with mass and burial to follow at Kapaakea Cemetery.
