Molokai High School’s Farmers took strides with athletic wins throughout the weekend. The Lady Farmers Volleyball team traveled to Maui to play against Haleakala Waldorf while boys and girls Cross Country ran at Baldwin. On the neighboring island of Lanai, Farmers Football took on the Pinelads in an 8-man game.
On Friday night, Sep. 23, Molokai High’s Volleyball team dominated the game. They took the win in four sets, 3-1 over Haleakala Waldorf. The first set landed with the Lady Farmers winning 25-14. Waldorf took on the second set with a score of 20-25. Then pulling through, the Farmers stole the game in the last two sets, 25-13 and 25-19. Saturday morning, the rematch was held, with Molokai again taking the win in four sets, 3-1. The Lady Farmers advanced the score the first two sets with scores of 29-27 and 25-7. Waldorf found their way in the third set 22-25, but the Farmers came right back, winning the last set of the game, 28-26.
On Saturday, Sep. 24, Molokai High’s Cross Country team competed just a few miles away from the volleyball game. These boys and girls ran the three-mile Baldwin course with speed. Kailani Bicoy took 10th in the race, with Kaia Yamashita right behind in 15th. The boys’ scores weren’t available by the press deadline.
On Lanai, Farmers Football played a rematch against the Pinelads, after winning their first game in August. Last weekend they did it again. With the guidance of the coaches, the boys achieved a final score of Molokai 56 and Lanai 24.
