Kaunakakai Elementary School (KES) is looking for a qualified individual to fill its Parent-Community Networking Center’s (PCNC), School Parent Facilitator’s position.
The PCNC role is an important one within our school. The primary focus of the PCNC position is to help schools and families build student esteem and achievement by creating a sense of community with partnerships among students, parents, teachers, and the community.
The PCNC, under the general direction of the Principal, develops, coordinates, and implements programs and activities which meet the assessed needs of the school/community. The PCNC will also be expected to direct, instruct and conduct appropriate learning experiences for parents, teachers, and other members of the school/community as related to program goals; coordinate and train all volunteers; participate in the development and preparation of the school and PCNC budget and serve on faculty committees as assigned; and be responsible for the use of PCNC facilities, equipment and supplies.
Applicants must have knowledge of guidelines relating to parent involvement; procedures dealing with forming parent, school, community partnerships; basic rules for facilitating group meetings, fundamental rules of oral and written communication; and basic process of public education.
Applicants must have the ability to understand and explain the philosophy, goals and objectives of the school; explain processes and operational procedures which must be followed; work effectively with parents, staff and community members to encourage participation and involvement; and set up group meetings, trainings on workshops, communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
Education and experience necessary includes a high school diploma, or higher degree, plus experience in developing and implementing parent/family involvement, support and education.
