Cross Country Sends Three to States

Seven boys and seven girls represented Molokai in the Maui Interscholastic League Championship Cross Country race on Maui last Saturday. Three are now headed to the state championships on Oahu this Saturday, Oct. 27. Top finisher for the girls and headed to states in Keeya Bicoy who finished in 11th place overall with a time 22:53. The boy’s top finisher and headed to states in Alex Mawae who finished in 19th place with a time of 18:53. Also qualifying for states is Kamalu Kaawa Richardson who finished in 27th place with a time of 19:19.

Girls Head Coach Kabbie Bicoy-Juario praised her runners.

“Our Lady Farmers showed everything they got and ran with their heart and soul at the MIL Championships,” she said. “Everything they learned throughout this season was put into this very race and the outcome was amazing. Coach Isaiah and I are very pleased with how much they all improved. Great season ladies. Keeya Bicoy qualified for states and I know she’s ready.”

Boys Head Coach Mahina Hou Ross said his team also worked hard this season.

“Our boys practiced hard and knew what they had to do, and they ran their race,” he said. “We are proud to take two runners to states,”

The state Cross Country Championships are this Saturday at the Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipahu.
