Community Acquisition of Molokai Ranch

Sust’ainable Molokai News Release

Please join us this month for the first of two meetings on community acquisition of Molokai Ranch. The first meeting is a working group meeting on March 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. held over Zoom.

The purpose of this first meeting is to introduce the legwork that has been done to prepare us to dive into the research necessary for us to answer questions such as: How will we pay for Molokai Ranch? What kind of ownership structure would we utilize to own the Ranch? How would we manage the lands? How will we generate revenue? Who will manage the land?

The second meeting is an open community meeting on March 29 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The purpose of this second meeting is to report back what was done in the March 22 working group meeting and to gather further community input.

Both of these meetings will build off the manaʻo that was shared during the open community meeting held last month on community ownership of Kaluakoʻi moku and other Guoco Leisure land holdings. This project is an extension of all the love and mana that has been poured into efforts to ensure that our community can decide what we want the future of Molokai to be. We recognize, honor and mahalo the efforts done in the past that have gotten us to this point. We mahalo all of the people who have been involved in these efforts of the planning process and welcome new voices as well. We look forward to working with Molokai Ranch employees whose jobs we want to protect and who have knowledge and experience that are vital to the final community plan.
