Caucuses Assemble as Election Time Nears Closer

It’s that time of year – a time of unison, division, banners swaying and button-adorning T-shirts. Yes, election time is coming.

And for those who wish to participate, party caucuses for the statewide office and Congress election will be held at various sites around Molokai next week.

The Maui County democratic caucus will be held on Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. at four locations on Molokai: Kilohana Hall, Kualapu`u Hall, Mitchell Pauole Center and Maunaloa Community Center. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Participators of the democratic caucus must be registered to vote and signed up as a member of the party. To register to vote online or join the party, visit the Maui Democrats website.

The caucus agenda includes the election of precinct delegates and substitutes to the Democratic State Convention in May. The election itself will commence with the primaries in September, followed by the general in November.

For more information about the caucus or for voter registration forms, contact Beverly Pauole-Moore at 553-9000, or via e-mail at mri@aloha.net.

The Maui County Republican Party previously held all its caucus meetings on Feb. 6. The party is currently looking for people interested in becoming party participants and precinct captains. For more information on becoming a member or future events, visit their website.
