The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust announced new efforts to support the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Conservation and Resource Enforcement’s work to combat poaching and designated wildlife-related crimes by sponsoring a toll-free, confidential reward tip line, 1-855-DLNR-TIP.

For the month of December the Molokai Humane Society (MoHS) will offer cat spays and neuters at an even lower discounted price.
The first 25 cat spays and neuters scheduled for the month of December will be free thanks to a contribution from a generous donor. All other cat spays and neuters for the month will be offered for $10 each, regularly $20. Limit of two free spays and neuters per person, no limit on $10 rate.
Surgeries are performed on Mondays and Thursdays and require appointments. Call 558-0000 today to schedule your appointment.
MOLOKAI LIONS CLUB NEWS RELEASE
The annual Molokai Lions Club Halloween Contest was a howling success thanks to the dedicated effort of Chairperson Lion Jeanne Marie Lindquist. On Halloween, Oct. 31, nearly 200 children and adults arrived at the Molokai Public Library lawn to register and be judged for their costume. So many original costumes, such a display of originality! Every year the job of judging becomes more daunting. Many thanks to the Molokai Leo Club and their advisor Julia DeGeorge for their help in making this year such a success.

Bio-Logical partnered with developer Pattern Energy earlier this year to form Molokai Renewables, LLC and pursue a wind turbine project on Molokai and undersea transmission cable to Oahu.
Dancil most recently was the president and CEO of the Hawaii Science and Technology Institute and the Hawaii Science and Technology Council, with which she was involved in developing strategic partnerships between state and federal agencies, private and public schools, and the business community on issues including workforce development and economic revitalization in science and technology. Previously, Dancil was the executive vice president of a diversified medical technology company involved in the manufacturing of raw materials for various pharmaceutical applications.
At Bio-Logical, she most recently served as vice president of Hawaii Business and Development and Strategy.
She received her doctorate in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego and her master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University. Currently Dancil is on the board of PBS Hawaii and Hawaii Strategic Development Corporation.
MOLOKAI ARTS CENTER NEWS RELEASE
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Molokai Arts Center (MAC) will sponsor a Gift Fair and Brunch. We are asking Molokai artists to set up sales tables and booths to sell locally made art and crafts at the Saturday market in Kaunakakai. In addition, we are asking our community to support our island economy by purchasing your holiday gifts directly from local artists and musicians. MAC will serve brunch for 200 holiday shoppers from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. We will also sponsor a gift wrap table so that shoppers can have their gifts wrapped and packed for immediate shipping.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service, a division of the United States Department of Agriculture, is offering technical and financial assistance to farmers and ranchers to develop, install and implement authorized conservation practices. To receive assistance, the farmer or rancher must be in control of the land where practices will be applied, have an agricultural income of at least $1,000 per year and be willing to implement conservation practices of the duration of the contract and maintain such practices.
