Culture-Based Science Program
Project Hokulani News Release
A free culture-based science program and paid internship called Project Hokulani is available to high school students from Molokai, Oahu and Hawaii Island. The program, through the University of Hawaii, aims to help Hawaii high schoolers learn about going to college and science related fields through culture-based hands-on activities, mentoring and work-based learning.
Program components include hands-on science activities, science exploration within Native Hawaiian culture, college preparation and a 40-hour paid summer internship of up to $1000 per student. The program begins mid-September for one year, with two classes per month on Saturdays.
