Christian Jay Fermin P. Motas was born Sept. 1 to the proud parents of Jessica and Noel Joseph Motas. He was born at Molokai General Hospital weighing 6 pounds 5 ounces and is welcomed by sister Deisha Esther and grandparents Patricio and Rosemarie Pantaleon and Fermin Jr. and Felicitas Motas.

Sophie Hoakalei Ponce Purdy-Kaai was born Aug. 30 at 5:12 a.m. to parents Ashley Ponce and Koddie-Jaymes Purdy-Kaai. She was born at Molokai General Hospital and weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. Sophie Hoakalei, meaning child of Hoaka (moon) was also welcomed by grandparents Avette Ponce, Helena Miguel and Martin Ponce of Kaunakakai and James Kaai and Wailana Purdy-Kaai of Hoolehua.

Makanalei Hilina`i Leimomi Pactol-Dudoit

Makanalei Hilina`i Leimomi Pactol-Dudoit was born July 6 at 7:03 a.m. to proud parents Tirzah Pactol and Albert “Baba” Dudoit Jr. She was born at Kapiolani Medical Center, weighed 4 pounds 3 ounces and was 16 inches long. Makanalei was also welcomed by grandmas Carla Dudoit and Francine Pactol and grandpas Albert Dudoit Sr. and Donald Pactol.

Brody Gabriel Lawai`a Kahookano was born at Molokai General Hospital Aug. 18 at 2 a.m. to proud parents Gina Marisol Gomez and Gabriel Donald Kahookano. He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was welcomed by siblings Hiilani, Natasha, Jaisten and Genesis, and grandparents Ella Mersberg of Hawaii Island and Donald Kahookano of Ranch Camp. His Hawaiian name, Lawai`a, means fisherman.

Elliana Debra Hi`ilani Sanchez

Elliana Debra Hi`ilani Sanchez was born at home on May 6, 2011 in San Antonio, TX to proud parents Melissa (Benjamin) and Noah Sanchez. She arrived at 10:57 p.m., weighed 6 lb. 7 oz. and was 19 inches long.  She was also welcomed by brother Elijah, grandparents Debra and Jerry Benjamin of Kaunakakai, Tony Sanchez and Cheryl Thompson of San Antonio, and great grandma Fely Quidangen. Her Hawaiian name Hi`ilani means “held in the arms of heaven."

Proud parents Mahea Kaulili and Miles Luuloa welcomed son Dallas Miles Minoru Keola Kaulili-Luuloa on April 19, 2011, 9:58 p.m. at Kapiolani Medical Center. He weighed 9 lbs, 8 oz. Sisters Divine, Kira-Lei and Kailyn, with grandparents Marilyn Noelani and Whiston Kaulili and Henry and Claire Luuloa also welcomed him into the world.

Ka`ikenaona`ale Rawlins-Fernandez

Proud parents Keani and Makena Fernandez would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Ka`ikenaona`ale `Ilikea Nalikolei Rawlins-Fernandez.  She was born on May 10, 2010 at 4:39 a.m. at Molokai General Hospital.  She weighed in at 6 lbs, 4 oz, and was 21 inches long.  Her brother, I`a, eagerly welcomed her arrival.  Her grandparents are Kana and Liko Wallace, and Randy and Debbie Fernandez.

Keliyah Marie Thompson was born May 20, 2011 at 11:08 a.m. at Molokai General Hospital, to proud parents Jamie Mailelauli`ili`i Bullion and David Charles Thompson Jr. She weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. She joins sister Danielle Iwalani Kaianhiku Aguila; and grandparents Wanda and Sam Thompson of Kaunakakai, Laina M. Carrillo of Kaunakakai and Jimmy Naki.

Hayzen Kamalu O Nalani Fanco-Kelekolio was born on May 27, 2011 at 11:32 a.m. to parents Shalina Franco and Caleb Kapahakula Kelekolio, at Molokai General Hospital. He joins sisters Mikayla and Kaylee and brother El Jay; grandparents Rhonda Albino of Hilo, and Gabriel Kelekolio Sr and Roselani Soares of Kalamaula, Molokai. He was 5 lbs 10 oz and 19 inches long.

Kauluwai Yamashita

Kauluwai Tyde Lee Yamashita was born at Queen's Hospital at 5:21 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011 to proud parents Todd and Noelani Yamashita. Our big baby boy came into the world weighing 9 lbs. 4.8 oz. and measuring 21 1/4 inches long. Kauluwai is named after a peaceful area of Kalae, Molokai, where his great-great-grandparents lived, and his father and uncle were raised. Kauluwai is blessed by a caring `ohana including grandparents Marjorie and Gordon Lee, Bruce and Sheri Yamashita, and Nannette Walters and Dusty Dancy. The Yamashitas would like to thank Ke Akua and all their family and friends on Molokai and elsewhere for all their blessings, support, gifts and well-wishes – mahalo.
