Can Someone Step Up to the Plate?

Agree or disagree: President Obama and Congress in less than two years put into law a 30-year debated health care reform, and in two months Wall Street and financial reform. Two years ago the Dow, the Jones and the Mary was 6,000 and the country was on the brink of financial depression – and today it’s over 10,000. The automobile industry and banks were on the verge of collapse, and have a better outlook today. There have been two wars and a very fragile economy to manage, etc., etc., etc.  Yes, one can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Here is the analogy… It’s taken over four and a half years for some Maui County politicians and officials to process a 1,890 sq. ft. building permit for the Molokai Veterans Center.  Some County Departments (fire, police, environmental, etc.) have signed off on the building permit for the Molokai Vets.  The Department of Water Supply is holding up the building permit.  In this process some officials have been misleading and have not kept their word and have cost County and State taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in this redundant soap opera.

We’ve gone through four World Series and four Super Bowls.   As of today, the Molokai Veterans still don’t have a building permit.  Molokai Vets have exhausted all possibilities to resolve this issue and are now seeking legal action.
