Calling Kalo Cooks

UHMC Molokai Farm News Release

Calling all island cooks with ono kalo recipes!  The University of Hawaii Cooperative Extension Service (UH CES) will be hosting the annual Molokai Taro Variety Field Day on Saturday, Sept. 17.  Part of the festivities includes a Kalo Cooking Contest in which Molokai chefs are welcome to compete for prizes in the following categories:  appetizer, main dish and dessert.

All entries must include kalo (any part) as a main ingredient in the dish.  Entry forms can be picked up at the UH CES Office, Sustainable Molokai or UH Maui College, Molokai.  Entry forms must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.  UH CES will be providing up to four pounds of kalo for each entry that must be picked up on Sept. 15 between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the UHMC Molokai Farm (first right after Kumu Farms).
