Registration for the Hawaii Craftsmen Annual Exhibition opens in just a few weeks, so it’s time to put the finishing touches on your work for Hawaii’s most prestigious and truly statewide juried exhibition at the Honolulu Museum of Art School Main Gallery. Molokai artists are welcomed to submit their work. Need some reasons to enter?

It’s a prestigious exhibition location with over 2,000 visitor. More than $4,500 in cash prizes will be awarded. There’s a new $500 award for collaborative work sponsored by the Timothy Y. C. Choy Fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation. We have scheduled acquisition visits from HoMA and HSFCA.

Building on Hawaii Craftsmen’s 51 year tradition of exhibiting new and established artists from across the state, this exhibition will explore the visible presence of the maker’s hand in contemporary art and craft.

Online entries opens July 15 and ends on Sunday, Aug. 11, with Molokai and Lanai submissions being juried on Aug. 17.

Emerging and established artists from across the state are encouraged to submit up to six completed artworks for jurying.

Artists residing in Hawaii are invited to enter traditional or non-traditional crafts. The exhibition is open to residents of Hawaii for artworks in the categories of clay, fiber, glass, wood, metal, stone, and mixed media. Entries must be of original design and created independently within the last two years. Artworks previously included in juried exhibitions on Oahu or displayed in any Honolulu Museum of Art School exhibition are ineligible. Juror selected cash awards will be presented at the exhibition opening reception and awards ceremony.

The exhibit will be held Aug. 30 to Oct. 4, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
