Busy Summer for Art

MAC News Release

Molokai Arts Center (MAC) will hold two workshops on consecutive Thursdays, July 12 and 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. “Introduction to Stained Glass” will be taught by local artist Dorothy Donaldson. Donaldson lived in Windward Oahu and Arizona before deciding to make their home on Molokai. She worked with stained glass as a hobby for over 30 years and created beautiful doors for her home in Kaaawa. She also built a stained glass aquarium for their bathroom.

Workshop participants will complete a 15-by-15 inch glass project as part of the class and learn techniques and process in creating stained glass pieces. Students are required to wear hard shoes for safety. Cost is $40 for two sessions and class is limited to seven students. Register through the Molokai Arts Center website. Another workshop (repeat Introduction or Intermediate) is planned for August, with content dependent upon response for this class.

The MAC will also hold two more workshops in July: “Kapala Canvas Art” with Kanoelani Davis on July 21 and “Monotype Madness” Printmaking with Paula Scott on July 26. In August, Kalani Pruett will teach a “Landscape/Flora Watercolor Painting” class on location in Halawa Valley. Youth Classes are held at the studio on Saturdays.
