Blas Hernandez Miguel

Blas Hernandez Miguel, 90, of Kualapu`u, Molokai, passed away at his home on July 28, 2010.  He was born on February 9, 1920 in the municipality of Laoag, Province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines.  He was a retiree from Del Monte Corporation and a retired painter/carpenter for the State of Hawaii at Kalaupapa Settlement and a member of the Molokai Filipino Club.

He was preceded in death by his son Rogelio “Tootsie” and his wife Lauring “Lolly.” He is survived by his sons Ernesto Miguel of the Philippines, Blas Tadio of Maui, Mark Miguel, Perry (Kelly) Miguel and Justin (Melissa) Miguel of Minnesota; daughters Mely of the Philippines, Anita (Darren) Okimoto of Kona, Lydia Tadio (Lionel Perreira) of Molokai, Darna Miguel of Maui, Helena Miguel (Avette) of Molokai and Corina Bloch of Minnesota.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and family members here in Hawaii and the Philippines.
 
Visitation was on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with service at 10 a.m. at Kalaniana`ole Hall in Kalama`ula, Molokai. Burial followed at Kapa`akea Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Molokai Mortuary, and funeral services by Saint Damien Catholic Parish, Kaunakakai, Molokai.
