Baseball Gets Wins on Lanai
The Molokai Farmers Baseball team traveled to Lanai City last week for a three-game series against the Pine Lads. Molokai got two wins on Thursday and Friday but Saturday’s game was postponed due to weather and will be made up at a later date.
On Thursday, senior Nainoa Kaahanui pitched a no-hitter with four strikeouts in a 12-0 win in four innings. Kaahanui is now 2-0 on the season. Fridays game had senior Shraedon Naeole-Starkey on the hill for the Farmers (4-0) and he picked up his second win of the season in an 11-1 six inning game. Lanai is 0-4 on the season.
“It was a good weekend that we were able to win two games,” said Head Coach Bradford “Ilika” Kaahanui. “Offensively we were executing our bunts and able to move the runners on the bases. Defensively our pitchers threw strikes and our fielders made plays.”
Kaahanui wanted to thank the host Pine Lads for showing so much aloha.
“It was a good weekend of baseball with great hospitality from Lanai baseball boys, coaches, parents and their Athletic Director,” he said. “Some of our parents came also and that made our stay comfortable and our boys were well fed!”
Molokai will have a week off before traveling to Maui to face St. Anthony (0-3) and unbeaten (3-0) Seabury Hall on April 6 and 7. A big home series against the Spartans will be on April 20 and 21.
