Applications Invited for Molokai Community Plan Advisory Committee
County of Maui News Release
Applications for a position on the Molokai Community Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) are now being accepted by the Council’s Policy Committee, Policy Committee Chair Riki Hokama announced last week.
According to Maui County Code, the CPAC is “charged with reviewing and recommending revisions to the community plan” regarding the proposed decennial update to its community plan area. The community plans are critical land use policy documents for the county.
The Molokai CPAC will probably begin meeting in the end of 2012. There will be one or more initial orientation sessions, followed by multiple working meetings.
Hokama noted that nine of the CPAC’s 13 members will be appointed by the Council, while four will be appointed by the Mayor. To be eligible to serve on the Molokai CPAC, an applicant must be a resident of the Island of Molokai. All Molokai residents are encouraged to apply. Experience in land use planning is helpful, but not required.
Hokama said the application form and a general information sheet concerning the Molokai CPAC can be found under “Items of Interest” in the Policy Committee’s section of the County website, mauicounty.gov/committees/pol. In addition, the application form and information sheet are available at the Molokai Council Office at 100 Ainoa Street, Kaunakakai.
Applications should be received or postmarked by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 21, Hokama said.
He added that the Policy Committee will meet soon thereafter to consider appointments. For additional information, please contact the Policy Committee Staff (270-7659 or 270 8005) or the Molokai Council Office (553-3888).
