The Boys Basketball team hosted the Hana Dragons last weekend at The Barn, where the Farmers won both games. They finished their regular season at 6-4 and will play Haleakala Waldorf Wednesday night on Lanai in the MIL DII Boys Basketball Tournament quarter-finals.
Friday was senior night and the Farmers got the win of over the Dragons (2-6) 58-37. Molokai was led by senior Kaina Adolpho with 16 points. Junior Stephen Agcaoili added 11. On Saturday, Molokai won 51-35 and Adolpho scored 15 points and senior Shraedon Naeole-Starkey added 13. Other seniors honored were Kreole Pawn-White, Nainoa Kahale and Keison Poaha-Alcon.
Head Coach Nohea Pangkee was happy with his team’s performance.
“Our boys had a fun weekend of competition and Friday was extra special as we got to honor our five seniors,” he said. “Saturday we didn’t play nearly as well as we would have liked on both defense and offense, but we’re happy to get the win.”
Pangkee has his team ready for the tournament on Lanai.
Hana Coach Malofou Moeai said his team enjoys coming to play on Molokai.
“The Molokai community always supports its teams, especially on senior night, and it exceeded our expectations,” he said. “Having lived on Molokai for four years, I have always respected the passion and a tradition of the athletic support but more importantly there is always so much aloha and respect between Hana and Molokai.”
