$1M for Molokai Health Center

Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) announced that Community Health Centers (CHCs) on Oahu, Maui, Molokai and Hawaii Island will receive over $8.15 million in federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services to support the delivery of health care services to underserved communities across the state. The five grantees include Hana Community Health Center; Kalihi-Palama Health Center; Waimanalo Health Center; Molokai Ohana Health Care, Inc. (Molokai Community Health Center); and Hamakua Health Center.

“Community health centers help ensure that everyone, especially rural and underserved communities, can access the health care services they need,” said Sen. Hirono. “These health centers provide crucial resources to people across Hawaii and the country who might otherwise not have access to quality health care. I will continue to support our CHCs and help secure the funding they need to serve communities on every island.”

CHCs provide comprehensive, quality health care services to medically underserved communities and vulnerable populations. Hana Community Health Center will receive $1,233,746; Kalihi-Palama Health Center will receive $2,846,540; Waimanalo Health Center will receive $1,733,204; Molokai Community Health Center will receive $1,005,059; and Hamakua Health Center will receive $1,332,369.

Sen. Hirono has long worked to ensure Hawaii’s communities can access the health care they need. She has been a champion for Hawaii’s Community Health Centers and has helped them secure federal funding to better serve communities across the state.
