Talking about Economic Development 

KBC News Release

On June 18 and 19, the County of Maui Office of Economic Development (OED) is coming to Molokai to talk story about the programs they offer, but more importantly to talk story with Molokai to see how we can better serve the island.  Each session will be approximately one hour. Come for one or come for all!

The Economic Development Talk Story event will start June 18 at the Molokai Community Health Center (Old Pau Hana Inn) Great Room with sessions from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sessions will continue on June 19 at the QLCC Meeting Room from 9 to 11:00 a.m. with a county grant workshop.  Tina Silva, Grants Manager, will present the County OED Grants session and answer any questions from 9 to 10 a.m. and Sharon Zalsos, County Product Enrichment Program (CPEP) Specialist, will cover the CPEP grant and requirements from 10 to 11 a.m.  There is no cost to attend any of these workshops.

9 a.m.      Who is OED and What Do We Do? OED Partners – Teena Rasmussen, OED Director

10 a.m.    Environmental Initiatives – Rob Parsons, Environmental Coordinator

11 a.m.   How OED helps in Creating Skilled Workers – Roland Prieto, Executive Director MCWIB

1 p.m.      Agriculture – Kenneth Yamamura, Agriculture Specialist

2 p.m.      Made in Maui County Festival – Karen Arakawa, Small Business Specialist

Please mark your calendars and make plans to join us on June 18 and 19, then head out to the 4-H Livestock Expo to see more of your county grant dollars at work in your Molokai Community.  To reserve your seat for the Talk Story Sessions or the Grant workshop, please call the Kuha`o Business Center (KBC) at 553-8100.  KBC is a part of the County of Maui Mayor’s OED and is pleased to bring this great event back to Molokai!
