Molokai’s 7th Annual Business and Food Expo

Molokai Chamber of Commerce News Release

This Saturday, November 14, 2009 the Molokai Chamber of Commerce presents the 7th Annual Food & Business Expo. Pu Ke Pono Maika’i (Sharing the Goodness), is an exciting event that brings much needed economic stimulus to our island.

Our new location this year, the Mitchell Pauole Center in the heart of Kaunakakai town, will allow guests to easily flow from the ever popular early Saturday morning Open Market, to the Food & Business Expo which begins at 11:00 a.m.  Historically this event has attracted both island residents and on-island visitors, as well as those who come to Molokai just for this occasion.  Last year we hosted over 1000 people, and with our new location we expect many more.

Throughout the day we will feature top Maui County Chefs preparing gourmet dishes, using Molokai products.  Each Chef will demonstrate their recipes in front of excited onlookers, and offer these delights for sale.  Adding to the excitement, a new entertainment line-up will include Molokai’s own Moana’s Hula Halau; the ever popular Sixpac; and the smooth jazz ukulele sounds of Kalei Gamiao, a Na Hoku Award nominee and rising star on Hawaii’s music scene.

To promote local agricultural diversity, our new Expo Country Store will bring the bounty of fresh local produce to you in one convenient location.  Side by side Molokai agricultural producers will offer their products, demonstrating the importance and reality of necessary coexistence for island economic sustainability.

We’d like to thank our sponsors for their generous support and commitment to building a robust Molokai economy:  Maui County Council Chair Danny Mateo and the Office of Economic Development, Monsanto Molokai, Young Brothers, American Savings Bank, Molokai Visitors Association, Alamo, Coffees of Hawaii, Kumu Farms, and Costco.
