Parents as Teachers

INPEACE News Release

Are you an expectant mother on Molokai?  Did you know you are your keiki’s first, and best, teacher? Interaction with your keiki from the time you conceive is crucial to strengthening family bonds. The earlier you start, the better!

If you don’t know where to begin, Parents as Teachers (PAT), a program by INPEACE, can get you on the path to success. Our staff can guide you through the many stages of your child’s development, through weekly home visits, using the PAT Foundational curricula — and it’s all free!

Most new parents have many questions. And, PAT has the answers. A certified PAT educator will visit you in the comfort of your home to discuss how you can bring a healthy, happy baby into the world, and continue to nurture your keiki as he or she grows.

In this program, parents will participate in parent-child activities using the PAT Foundational curricula, build and establish a strong parent-child relationship, and give children ages newborn to three years the best possible start in life and the chance to realize their highest potential.

This project has been jointly funded by the Department of Health, Maternal and Child Health Branch, with funds from the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting grant sponsored by the Health Resources Services Administration. There’s no limit to what your baby can do.

Enrollment is open to expectant mothers on Molokai. Call our new office at (808) 553-5700, or email seanallel@inpeace.org or jessicak@inpeace.org today.
