Local Store Celebrates 1 Year

Something for Everybody News Release

On Aug. 5, Something For Everybody celebrated its first year of business in Kaunakakai town.  The store was buzzing with excitement as customers old and new made their way in for the store’s “First Birthday” deals.  Each customer got $1 off their purchases with complimentary mahalo goodies and snack bags.

“It’s been a whirlwind of a year,” said first-time business owner Wailani Tanaka. “I know that I couldn’t have made it without the continued support and business from my community which I am ever so grateful for!”

To honor the store’s loyal customers, Loyalty cards and Daily Discounts made their debut on the anniversary.  “We have many weekly warrior shoppers that come in and buy one or two things weekly and they don’t get to enjoy the ongoing Buy-5-Get-A-6th-Item-for-Free deal. With the Loyalty card every item gets once hole punch and loyal customers can now enjoy the perks even if they don’t buy five items at once.  Now that’s a score!” says Tanaka.

Since opening last year, Something for Everybody has evolved into what many customers now refer to as a “mini mall,” carrying everything from second-hand clothes to footwear. The store also carries Na Mea Molokai items — a handful of locally-made accessories and made on Molokai T-shirts and hats that have been very popular like the “What Happens on Molokaʻi Everybody Already Knows” design.  iPhone accessories, glasses and brand new items have been added to the inventory, and household decor options are still available like microwaves, wall shelves and frames.

This summer, the store was inspired by the Back-to-School season and the island’s needs for school clothes.  An online Look-Book was created with a series of photo shoots around Kaunakakai of different student and staff age groups all styled by the storeʻs clothing inventory.  The Look-Book not only highlighted clothing, but showcased the lifestyle of students and staff in their school element.  A Back-to-School package was offered for the low price of only $50.99 that was valued at over $75.

“Especially during back-to-school season, families need to spend a lot of money and this was the first year families had our store to help them shop and save right here on Molokai,” said Tanaka.

Moving forward in to their second year of business, Something For Everybody will continue to have all of the exciting deals that bring customers in the door.  As Tanaka enthusiastically said, “Come on in everybody, the AC is always on!”
